I love vintage!    Vintage wraps you in your own individual, timeless style all through the  year.   Be unique ~ wear your favourite styles and designs using quality fabrics and materials.

Textile and sewing factories once abounded and jobs were plentiful, and based in many countries, like Canada (my personal favourite source).   Fabulous garments were created with gorgeous patterns and designs ~ using fabrics like wools of all weights, silks, cottons and linens, nylon and rayon crepes and satins, laces etc.

Aside from the high quality of workmanship and materials, vintage garments, shoes and accessories are wearable and useable collectibles ~ precious souvenirs of the past and its history, designers and craftspeople.

Fat Spazzy Vintage offers quality vintage clothing, lingerie, coats, shoes, purses, luggage and more.    We're always hunting down some goodies!

Some of my favourite quotations:

Coco Chanel (1883 - 1971):

  • In order to be irreplaceable one must always be different.
  • Fashion can be bought but style one must possess.
  • Luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it is not luxury.
  • There are people who have money, and people who are rich.
  • Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only.  Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.
  • The most courageous act is still to think for yourself.  Aloud.

Christian Dior (1905 - 1957):
  • Zest is the secret of all beauty.  There is no beauty that is attractive without zest.
  • Women are most fascinating between the ages of 35 and 40, after they have won a few races and know how to pace themselves. Since few women ever pass 40, maximum fascination can continue indefinitely.

Voltaire (1694 - 1798):
  • What most persons consider as virtue, after age 40 is simply a loss of energy.
  • It is fancy rather than taste which produces so many new fashions.

Yves Saint Laurent (b. 1940):
  • Fashions fade, style is eternal.
  • Over the years I have discovered that what is important in a dress is the woman who wears it.
  • I wish I had invented blue jeans.  They have expression, modesty, sex appeal, simplicity - all I hope for in my clothes.

Isaac Bashevis Singer
(1902 - 1991):
  • What a strange power there is in clothing.

La Rorochefaucauld (1613 - 1680):

  • A fashionable woman is always in love, with herself.

Edgar Watson Howe (1853 - 1937):

  • A man has his clothes made to fit, a woman makes herself fit her clothes.

Ambrose Bierce (1842 - 1914):

  • Fashion.  A despot whom the wise ridicule and obey.

Oscar Wilde (1854 - 1900):

  • A fashion is merely a form of ugliness so unbearable that we are compelled to alter it every six months

Quentin Crisp (1908 - 1999):

  • Fashion is what you adopt when you don't know who you are.

George Santayana (1863 - 1952):
  • Fashion is something barbarous, for it produces innovation without reason and imitation without benefit.

Mark Twain (1835 - 1910):

  • Clothes make the man. Naked people have little or no influence on society.
  • "I, Mark Twain, being of sound mind, have spent everything".

Stephen Leacock (1869 - 1944):
  • A sportsman is a man who every now and then, simply has to get out and kill something.
  • Advertising: the science of arresting the human intelligence long enough to get money from it.
  • It may be that those who do most, dream most.
  • Many a man in love with a dimple makes the mistake of marrying the whole girl.

George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950):
  • Mark Twain and I are in the same position.  We have put things in such a way as to make people, who would otherwise hang us, believe that we are joking.
